knitting: heart mittens

The holidays have come and gone. Now all we have left is the upcoming New Year's Eve and then it's back to the old routine for most of us.

Over time, I have noticed that this season tends to be much more stressful for most people than it should be. I, on the other hand, had the pleasure of cruising through it - for the most part - from a calm family dinner on Christmas Eve in our pj's, to getting back into my daily workouts that I used to miss so much while at school and a meetup with the lovely Maddie from the coolest blog you'll ever read, Madalynne. I've had a lovely and laid back time, just the way I like it.

Last month, when I knew I was going to be meeting up with Maddie I decided to put together a little package - sort of a Christmas/early birthday/meetup present. I am one of those people who truly love giving presents more than receiving and I usually don't like going somewhere empty handed. Knowing that it's really cold up where Maddie lives I decided to knit her a pair of mittens with a patterns that I came up with specifically for them. I liked the idea of working with two colors throughout the whole mitten because the yellow thread that is carried on the inside makes it that much thicker and warmer.

I really enjoyed making them and I'm already starting a new pair.

Hey! Those mittens look rather familiar! It was 28 degrees this morning and you bet they kept my hands and fingers warm. No frost bite for this Florida gal!

From our emails and your post, your holiday seems like it was such a pleasure and I'm glad. This is your vacation and you DESERVE to soak it up! Just don't make me too jealous by writing about the WARM weather down south.

They must be a happy pair at their new home keeping you warm in that dreadful weather.

Don't get too jealous, Summer is right around the corner and the south will be sharing it's heat with the rest of the country in no time. ;) Until then, stay warm and cozy!
